I danced.

I danced tonight. To one of my favorite songs, "California Dreamin'" by the Mamas and the Papas. Hey, I can't help it. I used to swing off vines by the sinkholes in Wakulla County. It's been a while that I danced by myself, and it felt good. I felt free. I danced because it was just me and Buster, and I was suspended in that moment with myself that was so freeing. It was just me, and I didn't have to be anyone else for anybody, for just a moment there...

Have you ever listened to Queen Latifa's cover of California Dreamin, Yun? So lovely. I understand it was a favorite around her house as a kid, not the original Mama's and Papa's rendition but Jose Feliciano's cover.
California Dreamin' is one of the first songs I remember as a kid. When my big brother Bruce would take me for rides in his beat up '57 Chevy he'd play the radio... that song must have just been released. His car, minus the mats, had big rusted holes in its floor board and I'd amuse my 6 year old self by watching the road beneath us, looking closely for a treasures he might drive over!(my job as passenger and co-pilot)
